The curriculum of the programs was developed by a team of academics, oil and gas specialists and subject matter experts. This ensured that they met the highest standards of the university and in line with the latest concepts and developments in the industry. Benchmarking with international institutions also ensures quality.
Professionals bodies(SPE, NAPE and SEG) were engage and have all endorsed the program.
The Senate of the University of Benin approved the following programs to be run at the centre:
1. Master of science in” integrated petroleum Exploration and Evaluation studies (Geology or Geophysics option)”
2. Master of science in integrated petroleum Engineering and Production studies”.
Specific course for these programs were designed in line with the ‘Hydrocarbon life Cycle Chain” to ensure integration of skills, disciplines and workflows.

Program Delivery Framework
Each program is for a period of 18- month, including 6-months intership in an oil and Gas industry. To ensure students understand subsurface workflows and develop the importance of integration. Work-Place Facility visits are an essential aspect of the program. This is in addition to to practical training and field trips.
All course are modular. The delivery framework includes formal lectures, online
Training as well as hands-on practical sessions and dedicated team projects. Course lectures are given by specialists; each topic is continuously assessed before the final examinations for each course at the end of the lectures. This is to ensure assimilation of learning objectives and drive continuous quality improvement in the delivery process.
Live data, subsurface interpretation hardware and a wide range of subsurface geological and geophysical interpretation software are available for use by students and staff to facilitate their learning and research.
Geological field trips, facility and site visits as well as laboratory practices are integral parts of the program.
